Sorry mom, I couldn't stand to take your advice. so I just sat down and got to fixing it.

but then I found that I could not mix a magenta that was vibrant enough for my tastes, so I need to go to the art store before I can finish this one.

I think i need to do people bigger... they're just so hard to manage on such a small canvas.

anyway, here is the current state of affairs, work in progress.

i'm not much of a photographer, but I am okay with my fledgling painting abilities.

so I've finally done it. I've started painting. I am using my buddies paints and canvas and brushes and stuff, and we are collaborating on a painting entitled "Lazer Squid in Money City"

but I've had a taste and I really like it. so this year, in addition to wanting toys that are too expensive, (as usual,) I want painting supplies. brushes, small canvases, water soluble oils, or acrylics, gesso, liquin. a palette, cases to store it all. i want to paint!

So... I am single now. it was just a 3 month relationship.

And I am going to miss it. to be fair what I am really going to miss is the sex, which was probably the most fulfilling sex life I've had to date. As for the girl - she never really opened up to me, I don't know what goes on in her head, what motivates her, or the world she lives in. Her family never knew my name, and whatever is driving her dictates that she need to work as much as she can, and go to school, to fight debt and succeed - which left no time for a relationship.

she wanted us to be closer, but when we were alone and intimate, she was either sleeping or fucking. there was never any opening up.

she was beautiful, and I came out of this relationship with higher standards for myself. but I need someone who has a softer shell. someone who has time for a relationship. someone not afraid of change....

someone who will let me be in charge in bed.

a break from the drawings to think about thinking about things
I just read a speech Sam Harris gave about both using the term 'atheist' and the nature of contemplative traditions...

the later of which I found very intriguing. (if you read the article it is the last thing he discusses, about 2/3rds of the way down.) Since I am often bored it made me wonder about introspection and contemplation and what it might be like to isolate yourself and just clear your mind for an extended period of time.

reminds me of Buddhism of course.

It also reminds me of what i hate about that "Not of this world" Christian brand/fad. stickers clinging to the back of very worldly luxury automobiles... I bet most folks who like to think of themselves as immortal souls instead of people never actually took the time to renounce this world and explore the part of them that might be not of it. certainly their status symbol SUVs aren't reflecting a state of renunciation.

    SKETCHBLOG: BLUE LINED PAPER EDITION
This summer I had a number of social science classes which also == non-engaging lectures. The result is a bevy of interesting and sometimes detailed sketches on blue-lined paper.

here is the collection of the ones I felt were worth noting.

    vlah vlah
I am just devouring stories about vampires recently. not because I'm especially fond of them. In fact I consider them as campy as a horror genre monster can be, but that is besides the point. Earlier this week I finished reading "I Am Legend," because a movie about it is coming out soon. It was REALLY REALLY well written - and because of this it colored my dreams while I was reading it - but not in vampirey ways, just in ways that I recognized the similarity despite being unable to recall the details --- if that makes any sense.

Then I finished reading 13 Bullets at Borders. My review? It is a little less skillful, but incredibly entertaining all the same - if a little predictable. Fun read.

Then I watched Dnevnoy Dozor, (Day Watch,) the sequel to Nochnoy Dozor, (Night Watch,) which had vampires in it, but wasn't focused on vampires. Day Watch was MUCH better than night watch, but it is still beneficial to watch night watch first, as Day Watch is very much a sequel. It is important to point out that night watch was originally filmed as a TV series for Russian television... but later put together as a movie instead. It shows in the patchiness, and non-linearity, of the story telling. Day Watch was clearly designed as a movie, so its a very fluid storyline, and with a much higher budget (considering how well Night Watch did.)

wow school is hot and heavy
so much homework that i can't determine how necessary it is.... especially in various social studies. the first quizes shall reveal all.

I like how bank tellers have to try and "sell up" on various financial opportunities when a member deposits thousands of dollars. (that they loaned me. I guess they are thrown off that the check comes from the school.)

for some reason the campus is swarming with pretty girls over the summer.

I did not work out today.

    new cell phone number
Because I have only used 120 minutes over the last two years I decided maybe a pay-as-you go would be more economical for me.

so I got a new one. If you want the new number, reply with your email address.

    I dream of Pac Man
I had a dream, that pac man was really secret agent Patrick "Pac" manning, who had an uncanny super power to travel in another dimension, though in it he took on a new, yellow, shape.

whn in this dimension, though, the vengeful spirits of those he had killed (while on secret agent missions) could hunt him down and attack him.

there were more details about dimension hopping and others having access to the pac-man zone, but i won't get into them.

I used to dream that I was back in high school, but didn't remember my schedule, so when the bell rang I had no idea where to go.

now I dream I'm still in the military, but I forgot where I kept my uniform, so I can't report in until I get a suitable uniform.

I imagine once I graduate college it will be back to in school but don't know which class.

in further news I talked to a girl in class and got shot down.
